Guri Green

£6.95£29.95

This vibrant refreshing green tea is not rolled to make a needle like leaf like most Japanese green teas so it looks curly (guri in Japanese) which is why we named it Guri Green. It is a kamairicha tea from one of the families that pioneered modern kamairi (fired rather than steamed) teas as their ancestor Ogasa Naoichi invented a popular kamairi machine that was so successful, he received an award from the emperor. This style of fired tea gives a gentle toasty back note to balance the natural grassiness and astringency of the tea.

The family farm was founded in the Meiji period over 100 years ago. It has been following organic practices for over 15 years and in 2020 became certified organic.
