The Shape of Tea

The Shape of Tea is the title of a book I have yet to write which features ceramic tea ware from China Japan and England as well as some contemporaneous writings from those cultures to tell the story of tea. I am interested in the way objects in particular tell you something about a time, its people and their ideas without explanations, bias or descriptions. In our upcoming small show also called The Shape of Tea, some of the objects I have chosen for the book will be exhibited and one of us will be there to explain more about the ceramics if you have questions. The tea ware dates from the early 17th century to the 21st century. Hopefully there is something that will move, entertain or enlighten everyone.

The one hour slot allow a degree of flexibility but we will close the gallery space at the end of the hour slot. Admission is free but booking is essential.
