Noticing that pests seemed to love the taste of this plant, Saito-san spent 25 years cultivating it until he could grow it successfully without the use of any pesticides, giving the cultivar its name.<\/p>\n<p>This is one of the richest non-shaded Japanese greens we have stocked, an elegant asamushi sencha finely balanced between fruit sweetness, acidity, and saline umami.
