Teapot (Kaki Tenmoku 2)

A handmade porcelain teapot handmade by Noritada Kimura, a great Kyoto potter.

This is an outstanding example of the kaki (persimmon) glaze which is made in a similar way to many tenmoku glazes, except with a higher iron oxide content which turns red as it cools. The pot is finished with a handmade handle made out of wisteria wood and a filter mechanism in the spout that ensures a smooth pour and no dripping.

As functional as they are beautiful, these are some of the best teapots we have come across in 25 years of working in Japan.

Dimensions: 11cm height x 12cm diameter (not inc. handle). Volume: ~350mls
