Lei Aiguo Teapot (95ml)

£495.00

A handmade porcelain teapot by Lei Aiguo, a talented young potter working in Dehua – one of the porcelain centres of China. Very early in his career he has made a name for himself by being able to throw small, intricate pots in porcelain – a notoriously difficult medium to master – and in 2018 his pots were inducted into London’s Victoria and Albert Museum’s permanent collection.

Each pot is thin-walled, lightweight and delicate in the hand, and when held up to light display translucency and very faint concentric marks showing that the pot has been expertly thrown. Inside there is a multi-hole ball filter in the spout, making the pour smooth and the pot suitable for most medium-large leaf teas without use of a strainer. As well as being aesthetically beautiful in form and a pleasure to hold and use, they make excellent tea and are particularly suitable for Chinese and Taiwanese green, black and oolong teas.
