Yanming Zhang (1950 – )
Yanming Zhang is the one of the most famous makers of teapots in China.
He is the 4th generation of his family to hand make teapots in the traditional
Chao Zhou style used in the Gong Fu tea ceremony which also originates
in this ancient city of Guangdong Province in south China. A potter for
over 40 years, he recently received the title of “National Master of
Ceramics” from the Chinese government joining an elite group of 90 of the
country’s greatest living ceramicists and the only Chao Zhou teapot maker
honoured. Several of this masterpieces including “The Complete Ten” teapot
set can be seen in the national collection of the Ziguang pavilion in
Tiananmen Square, Beijing.
